Perillo sets standard for judicial campaign, rejects all contributions

Lake County judicial candidate Mike Perillo believes campaign finance rules need to be changed above and beyond what current law allows if judges are going to be perceived as independent arbiters of the law.

"I am committed to running a truly independent campaign and ultimately serving as a truly independent judge. Accordingly, I am instructing my campaign committee to refund campaign contributions previously received and to accept no further monetary contributions from any donors, including attorneys and law firms,” Perillo said.

“It is my hope that someday very soon both our legislature and State Supreme Court will take action to change campaign financing rules for judicial races."

Perillo has served the public for more than 26 years, first as Navy JAG (Judge Advocate General’s Corps) officer based at the Great Lakes Naval Training Center. He has also served as a Lake County felony prosecutor, and felony public defender. He has been engaged in private law practice in Lake County for over 17 years.

He is currently running for Judge in Lake County’s 6th Judicial Subcircuit in the November 2010 General Election. The Subcircuit includes Antioch, Grayslake, Lake Villa, Lindenhurst & Winthrop Harbor.
